![]() The Elk Valley Chapel was formed in 1982 by Pastor Minter Lynch and a
small congregation of people. Pastor Lynch and the congregation purchased
an old apartment building and some land located in the town of
Cherry Falls, which is located in Webster County of the State of West Virginia.
The community gave time and money to convert this building into a place of worship.
The first service was held in August of 1982 with 117 people attending. It was
reported that this was a service of love to God for the work that he had permitted
to be done in his name.
A business meeting was held in May of 1996 and it was determined that
Elk Valley Chapel was in need of a new and bigger building. The old apartment
had served its purpose and as originally planned, now was the time to begin
a building fund. In 1997 the adjacent land was purchased to permit additional parking
and the relocation of the new chapel. In September 1998 the construction for the
new chapel was begun. On Saturday, February 27, 1999 the first service
was held in the new Elk Valley Chapel.
In the year 2003 Rev. Larry Lovely was elected by the members to serve as
their Pastor.
On January 4, 2004 Rev. Lovely resigned his position as pastor of
Elk Valley Chapel,
On September 1, 2004 Rev. Kyle Hall was elected by the members to serve as
their Pastor. We welcome Rev. Hall, his wife Pam and daughter Megan.
On September 25, 2004 Rev. Minter Lynch passed away. We mourn his passing very
deeply. We believe that Minter is now leading a choir of angels
in singing. God bless you Minter we all loved you and will miss you.
If you are visiting or living in this area the congregation of Elk Valley Chapel would like to take this
opportunity to invite you to attend our services.
